About

I am Dr Victoria Singer, a highly specialist paediatric speech and language therapist (SLT). I have 20-years’ experience working with babies, toddlers, and pre-school and school-age children with speech, language, and feeding (eating, drinking, and swallowing) difficulties in Northern Ireland, England, New Zealand (NZ) and Australia.

I qualified with a BSc (First Class Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy from City University, London in 2001, and have worked in nurseries, schools, community clinics and multidisciplinary child development service settings as well as clients’ own homes.

I have combined my clinical work with research into children’s speech and language difficulties and obtained an MSc with Distinction in Speech and Language Sciences from the University of Canterbury, NZ in 2014. In 2021, I completed my PhD at Ulster University, where I have also lectured on the undergraduate SLT programme.

I have postgraduate certification in a range of programmes including

• Hanen It Takes Two to Talk, More Than Words and Target Word family-focused interventions for parents
• Makaton signing
• the Lidcombe Dysfluency programme
• the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
• the Sequential-Oral-Sensory (SOS) Approach to Problem Feeding.

I am HCPC registered and a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (MRCSLT) and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP).

Communication Express is based in the former Ballyroney Post Office. This is a Listed Building which has been a local landmark for over 150 years. The Post Office was opened on 4 July 1864 and was mentioned in Bassetts Directory of Co Down in 1866. The Post Office was featured on a 1997 Royal Mail 63p stamp, part of the "Sub Post Offices" collection.(Stamp design © Royal Mail Group Limited).
